Our client is a Fortune 100 national financial services organization with over $800 billion in total assets under management and is a leading provider of retirement services in the academic, research, medical and cultural fields.

Objective

Our client’s 401K / Retirement Services group is undergoing a large-scale operational and process improvement initiative within their client onboarding business. As a means to help facilitate the growth of their business and provide the best service to their clients, they recognized the need to seek out market intelligence regarding industry best practices for addressing the needs of new and existing retirement clients. Our client’s transition management group was looking to be as competitive as possible, with the goal of doubling in size in order to meet the new needs and complexities with their growth in this space. Charles Sterling Group was selected as the preferred executive search partner to perform market and competitive research by studying nine direct competitors.

Strategy and Result

The initial step was to ensure complete understanding of the organizational structure and business practices of our client’s transition management department. We next worked with our client to refine the list of target research companies and performed internal interviews of key executives to determine research topics and criteria that would best help our client restructure and improve their business. Charles Sterling completed a thorough market mapping of the client’s top competitors. The final fifty page report included detailed information regarding organizational structures and leadership, roles and responsibilities, compensation information for various levels, client onboarding processes, as well as information regarding trends and initiatives, technological enhancements and lessons learned from previous transformational efforts.
